"There's no reason a fake can't do what the real thing would. And it's possible for a fake to be more real than the real thing." -Shinobu Oshino

Identity does not exist in a vacuum, but is formed by an amalgamation of layers superimposed on one another, and we carefully choose which segments we reveal in certain situations. With KEY, I wanted to isolate specific instances of media that shaped what I consider to be my own identity.
Anime, music, video games, books, ... While the infinite influx of daily content shapes your thoughts on a daily basis, one could isolate those specific ‘pillars’ that support the whole foundation of your identity.

The KEY works are modular, and certain layers can be combined to form new objects. Their structure can be shaped to fit a different exhibition context, and they exist in different iterations emulating FOMO-consumer culture, the print exists as a deluxe limited edition featuring extra layers and materiality,
and a less-limited basic version on wallpaper.
